As a child I was a dreamer. I got endlessly lost in my own imagination. This imagination inspired me to create cardboard castles, epic treehouses in which I lived as a knight or like Robin Hood. Did I live more in my imagined world than in reality? My parents will tell you I did. But for me those made up stories, those imaginary worlds were a solid reality, and in those imaginary worlds I learned how to live.

I never lost that imagination and still experience the world as a magical place. At the same time I am also part of a society that has very high expectations. My work comes from the friction between those two worlds: the one I experience and the one that we all live in.

With my work I want to re-enchant the real world by bringing magical, creative elements from my world into the real one. I do this by building worlds from cardboard and found materials and photographing them. Playing and looking upon the world as a kid again. Transforming myself into herons and knights on journeys to find answers to life’s questions. My work offers an in-between space for young adults to wander through, to reflect, and to look at the world again with fresh eyes.

My work offers a restorative place, where you are allowed to wander, and return to reality rested and enchanted.
